HISTORY
Moondoggies (moon-dog-ees) noun; pl. 1: a famous 1960s icon from “Gidget” movie fame. 2: a philosophy to enjoy each day and all it has to offer. 3: San Diego’s ultimate sports restaurant where patrons can experience a taste of the Moondoggies philosophy.
Moondoggies was born on November 5, 1990. In its modest beginnings, what we now call “The Dog” was a place to kick back, shoot pool, meet friends, enjoy sports and sip on the coldest beer at the beach. Moondoggies was known by many locals for its laid back atmosphere and friendly bartenders.
Soon Moondoggies expanded and moved to a larger space down the street, closer to the beach. Moondoggies is now known as the ultimate sports restaurant in San Diego, and has been voted Best Sports Bar four years running. Moondoggies sports bar and grill has a large sunny patio that’s the perfect place to celebrate your team – with more than four dozen HDTVs scattered throughout the venue and a large projection screen, you won’t miss a minute of the action. One of Pacific Beach’s most venerated local hang outs with great daily entertainment and food and drink specials, Moondoggies was completely remodeled in spring 2008.
